France was the first to develop the internal coating of oil tanks.
In 1955, the United States also began to build this type of tank.
In 1962, Texaco began to use covered floating roof tanks and built a covered floating roof tank with the largest diameter of 187ft (61.6m) in the world in Newark.
In 1972, the United States has built more than 600 internal floating roof oil tanks.
In 1978, American API 650 Appendix H made a series of revisions and improvements to the classification, material selection, design, installation, inspection, standard load, buoyancy requirements, etc. of the inner floating disc. Advanced countries have complete special software for tank design, such as static analysis, dynamic analysis, seismic analysis, etc., such as T-shaped leg weld zone analysis. In the past 20 years, various forms and structures of inner floating plates or coverings have also emerged.
In 1978, 3000m3 aluminum floating plate was put into use in China, and remarkable results were achieved through the test of evaporation loss.
In 1985, China introduced the first 10X104m3 from Japan, all in accordance with the Japanese standard JISB8501, and imported raw materials, parts and welding equipment.
China has relatively mature experience in the design, construction and use of 10X04m3 oil tanks. High strength rigid materials for domestic large tanks can be produced in batches. 15X104m3 is currently under construction in China.
At present, the first LNG all bimetallic full tank in China is manufactured by domestic technology.
